3D-GRAPHENE 3D-PAINT (3DGR-R1A)

This research grade (not for human use) 3D-Graphene 3D-paint can be 3D-printed at room temperature using a direct extrusion (pneumatic or mechanical) 3D-printer into multi-layered, three-dimensional objects. The 3D-paint should only be used in a well-ventilated environment. The resulting extruded material rapidly solidifies, allowing for complex, user-designed forms to be created. The resulting solid material, despite being mostly graphene is electrically conductive and flexible depending on the printed architecture. The solids loading of the as-dried material is 75 wt.% graphene powder (5-20 μm lateral flake dimension) and 25 wt.% polylactide-co-glycolide (PLG). In its solid, washed state, fine 3D-Graphene fibers (100-400 μm in diameter) exhibit a conductivity of approximately 650 S/m, which can be further increased to approximately 850 S/m with brief thermal annealing at 50 °C. 3D-Graphene 3D-paint can be utilized to create three-dimensional structures, two-dimensional patterns on appropriate substrates, such as PLG films, or co-3D-printed with other 3D-paints to create multi-material structures. 3D- Graphene 3D-paint may also be mixed with other 3D-paints to create compound 3D-paints prior to utilization. Due to the mechanical flexibility of the material after drying, complex 2D and 3D forms can be created. 3D-Printed 3D-Graphene can be rolled, cut, folded, and punched as desired. It may even be sutured to itself or to soft tissues. The 3D-Graphene 3D-paint may also be utilized in non-3D-printing applications such as coating (dip-coating or direct painting), thread fabrication, or casting into molds.

After 3D-printing or other application, 3D-Graphene should be washed in 70% ethanol or 70% isopropyl alcohol followed by water, to remove residual solvents, prior to use. It can be utilized in this form, as a flexible, bioactive, electrically conductive biomaterial. 3D-Graphene has numerous electrogenic tissue (nerve, muscle, cardiac) repair and regeneration applications as well as flexible bioelectronic and wearables applications. 3D-printed 3D-Graphene can serve as an effective cell scaffold for in vitro or in vivo use. In its 3D-printed, flexible form, 3D-Graphene has been shown to be highly neurogenic, capable of differentiating adult human stem cells into neuron and glial-like cells without the need for added chemical, biological, or stimulatory factors.
